Agatti is the only island with an airport. The Gateway of
Lakshadweep,
Agatti Island is Located 459 kms. from Cochin. Extension
of Agatti airstrips towards Kalpitti, the nearest island, to
facilitate landing of larger aircrafts and acquisition of at
least two big helicopters are on faster track.
The Administration proposes to set up airstrips at Andrott &
Minicoy to start with, followed by Kalpeni & Kadmat.
Agatti
and its satellite islands of
Bangaram,
Tinnakkara, Parali-I & Parali-II presents a breathtaking
spectacle of sparkling coral reefs, turquoise blue lagoons,
silvery beaches and lush green coconut palms that sway to
the rhythm of the sea.
